Good Morning Birmingham

Good Morning Birmingham
This was another Downtown Birmingham, Alabama original painting.  The first oil painting was published.  This painting was acrylic  and placed vertical on the canvas which permitted me to place him standing  tall over Birmingham and include the elevator.  As a child we often climb the stairs; however in recent years the elevator has been added.  The various buildings downtown must be viewed from upon the Vulcan or on the ground overlooking the fence; therefore, I had to utilize the artists license to render this viewpoint.

The customer was permitted to name the painting from a choice which I provided and she selected "Good Morning Birmingham" which was also my first choice of the three titles which I provided.  The Vulcan standing tall over Birmingham is one of the famous landmarks of the city.

Because I have essential tremor in my head and hands, it is difficult to do this type of detailed painting; however, continuing to do what is almost impossible is a great challenge for my disability.  I hope to paint several others including a night scene which will also be a challenge.

Thanks to my friends, Chris and Jennifer for your request for the painting which is to hang in his office in downtown Birmingham.

Water Lily- Living to Die

No, this isn't oil, acrylic or water color.  This is my photography which I hope to paint without the leaf with the dead spot.  Of course, I will utilize my artist license to make other changes; however, I love photography just as much as painting and enjoy sharing and selling prints.

I posted two additional prints for water lilies in my photography folder and will be posting others shortly.  Prints are available on my website:   http://www.fayecreel.com in the photography folder.

I plan to research the name of this water lily shortly, unless some of you provide the name.  I hope this post generates lots of interest in water lilies (a 11x14 painting of another water lily is located in my folder of small paintings)

Now is the time to visit your local botanical gardens and enjoy the beautiful water lilies, even if water lilies are part of your landscape at home.

Florals are fun for photography and also to paint because we can utilize vivid colors of oil, acrylic and water colors.

"Please, Do Not Disturb"

After several trips to the Birmingham Zoo and various photographs of the wildlife and domestic animals, this painting was inspired. The little pelican seemed to take on its own personality as I painted it.
We all have times in our life when we want to hang a sign "Do not Disturb". When the painting was finished, the name was seemed most appropriate as the pelican slept. I surely did not want to disturb it. This painting is probably my husband's favorite.

Lower Falls, Yellowstone National Park

This painting was based upon trip to Yellowstone National Park in September 2008.  Numerous photos were taken of both the upper falls and the lower falls.  My family  made several trips to Yellowstone and this one was the hightlight of all trips because on this trip my husband and I were celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Waterfalls at Little River Canyon

Near Fort Payne, Alabama you will find Little River Canyon and it is amazing what you find right here in the south.  It is our little Grand Canyon and is highly recommended for a vacation.  Nearby, you will find wonderful camping facilities at State Park, nearby.  There are lots of places to see and visit because the falls is located between Chattagona, TN and Birmingham, AL.   These waterfalls provide a great tranquil place to spend the day and enjoy nature.

High Falls State Park, Georgia
This waterfall is located South of Atlanta, Georgia.  We visited on several occasions while our daughter lived in Georgia.  There are man made waterfalls above the bridge and numerous beautiful water falls below the bridge.  Watch for additional paintings of those falls.
